THE PROCEDURE
A coating, not a treatment, and that is exactly why it works
A sealant is a thin, tooth-coloured resin that we paint into the deep pits and fissures on the chewing surface of permanent molars. Once cured under a curing light, it forms a smooth surface that bacteria and food cannot get into. The cavity that would have started in those grooves simply has nowhere to begin.
Sealants are placed on healthy teeth, before any decay starts. That is the whole point. Most kids get their first set on the back molars right after they erupt, around age 6, then again on the second set around age 12. Quick, painless, no needle, no drilling.
Sealants pair naturally with the broader scope of children’s dentistry at our clinic. For ongoing prevention, we schedule kids cleanings on the same morning as parents.
- Tooth-coloured resin that bonds chemically to enamel
- Five minutes per tooth, no anesthesia, no drilling
- Reduces cavity risk on treated molars by 80%
- Quick re-check at every cleaning to confirm intact
