THE PROCEDURE
A small upgrade, finished in one visit
Dental bonding uses a tooth-coloured composite resin sculpted directly onto the natural enamel. We match the shade to your existing teeth, apply the resin in thin layers, shape it freehand, then harden each layer with a curing light. The whole procedure happens in one visit, usually in 30-60 minutes per tooth, with no anesthesia required for most cases.
The advantage of bonding over veneers is the conservative approach. We add material to your natural tooth without removing enamel, which means no irreversible preparation and no lab fabrication. The trade-off is durability: bonding lasts 5-10 years versus 10-15 for porcelain veneers, and is more prone to staining over time. For small fixes, bonding is often the right tool.
For larger transformations or maximum durability, porcelain veneers are usually the better tool. Whitening often precedes bonding to set a brighter base shade, and crown lengthening can rebalance the gum line on combined cases.
