THE PROCEDURE

Four implants, an entire arch held

All-On-X is a clinical concept developed in the 1990s and refined since. Instead of placing one implant per missing tooth, we place four to six titanium implants strategically across the arch and connect a full-arch fixed bridge on top. The math works because of how forces distribute when implants are angled into denser bone areas.

The whole upper arch, lower arch, or both is replaced in essentially one surgical day. You leave the clinic with a temporary fixed prosthesis in place the same day or the day after, then on a soft food diet. Three to four months later, after the implants fully osseointegrate, the temporary is replaced with the final zirconia, porcelain or acrylic prosthesis, based on your needs and cost.

All-On-X often follows or replaces traditional dentures when patients want fixed teeth. Some cases require bone grafting or a sinus lift first to ensure adequate bone, and the surgery is typically performed under IV sedation.

All-On-X is a family of full-arch restoration concepts. The exact number of implants and the prosthesis material depend on bone quality, bite forces, and aesthetic goals.

All-On-4

Four implants per arch, with the back two angled to use the densest bone available. Most cost-effective, well-suited to standard cases with adequate bone.

All-On-5

Five implants per arch. Slightly more support for patients with heavier bite forces or who prefer extra redundancy.

All-On-6

Six implants per arch. Most commonly used in the upper jaw where bone is softer, or for patients with very high biomechanical demands.

Hybrid prosthesis or full zirconia

What to expect through All-On-X treatment

All-On-X is a multi-stage process spread over three to four months. Here is the actual timeline most patients follow at Adental Office in Barrie.

We take a CBCT scan, photographs and impressions, and design the implant placement digitally before surgery. This is where most of the precision is built in.

Surgery and temporary teeth

Implants are placed under sedation. A temporary fixed prosthesis is screwed in the same day or the day after. You leave with teeth, on a soft food diet for the first weeks.

Healing phase of 3-4 months

Implants fuse to the bone (osseointegration). You wear the temporary prosthesis through this period and come in for a few short check-ins.

Final prosthesis fitting
