— THE PROCEDURE
How children's dentistry actually unfolds at our Barrie office
The Canadian Dental Association recommends a child’s first dental visit by their first birthday and at our Barrie children’s dentistry practice, that visit is intentionally low-key. We use it to introduce the chair, count baby teeth, and let parents ask every question on their list. No procedures, no pressure, no surprises just a quiet first hello.
As kids grow, the visits evolve with them. We add gentle cleanings, sealants on newly-erupted permanent molars, and fluoride treatments tuned to each age. Our team is trained in the show-and-tell technique every tool is named, demonstrated, and explained before it goes anywhere near a mouth. By the time something actually happens, your child already knows what to expect.
Most children also benefit from dental sealants on their permanent molars and a custom sports mouthguard if they play contact sports. We coordinate kids and parents cleanings on the same visit.
